Flange material introduction
The materials of flanges are varied to adapt to the needs of different working environments and media. The following are some common flange materials and their characteristics:
First, carbon steel flange
Features: With good strength and weldability, the cost is relatively low.
Application: Suitable for pipe connection under general pressure and temperature conditions.
Note: It is easy to rust in a corrosive environment, and it needs to be treated with anti-corrosion.
Second, stainless steel flange
Features: Strong corrosion resistance, suitable for corrosive media and high temperature and high pressure environment. At the same time, stainless steel flanges have good aesthetics and are suitable for occasions with high appearance requirements.
Type: According to the specific composition and performance of stainless steel, stainless steel flanges can be divided into many types, such as 304 stainless steel flanges, 316 stainless steel flanges and so on.
Application: Widely used in petroleum, chemical, natural gas and other industrial fields, and the need for high corrosion resistance occasions.
Third, alloy steel flange
Features: With high strength and toughness, suitable for high pressure, high temperature and corrosive environment.
Application: It has excellent performance in special environment, such as petroleum, chemical industry and other heavy industries.
Note: The manufacturing cost of alloy steel flange is higher.
Fourth, other materials flange
Rubber lined flange: The side of the flange in contact with the medium is lined with a rubber layer to improve corrosion resistance and sealing.
Fluorine-lined flanges: similar to rubber lined flanges, but the lining material is fluorine-plastic, suitable for the occasion of strong corrosive media.
Cast iron flanges: mainly used in low pressure piping systems, with low cost, easy processing characteristics, but low strength and corrosion resistance.
Copper flange: suitable for low pressure, low temperature and non-corrosive media occasions, with good thermal conductivity and aesthetics.
Aluminum flange: light weight, good corrosion resistance, but the strength and high temperature resistance is low, mainly used for low pressure, low temperature and non-corrosive media pipeline system.
Fifth, special material flange
Hastelloy flanges: Excellent corrosion and high temperature resistance, suitable for pipe connections in extreme environments.
Monel alloy flange: has good corrosion resistance and high temperature resistance, while having high strength and toughness.
In summary, the material selection of the flange should be comprehensively considered according to the specific working environment, medium characteristics, pressure grade and temperature range. Selecting the right flange material is crucial to ensure the safe and stable operation of the piping system.
