What materials are door hinges made of?

Door hinges are made of a variety of materials, each with its own unique characteristics and applicable scenarios. Here are some common door hinge materials:

Stainless steel:

Features: Stainless steel hinges have excellent anti-rust and anti-corrosion properties, high strength and long service life.

Applicable scenarios: Especially suitable for humid environments such as kitchens and bathrooms, as well as occasions that require high durability.

Subdivided materials: For example, 304 stainless steel has more prominent corrosion resistance and rust resistance.

Cold-rolled steel:

Features: Cold-rolled steel hinges have strong load-bearing capacity, are not easy to deform, open and close smoothly, and have a long life. It can also be treated with copper plating, nickel plating or titanium nickel plating to further enhance its anti-rust and corrosion resistance.

Applicable scenarios: Suitable for furniture door panel connections in dry environments such as wardrobes and bookcases.

Iron:

Features: Iron hinges are relatively cheap, but they are prone to rust and are not suitable for humid environments.

Applicable scenarios: In dry and cost-sensitive occasions, iron hinges still have a certain application space.

Copper:

Features: Copper hinges have a high-end and gorgeous appearance, good thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance, but the price is relatively high.

Applicable scenarios: Commonly used for doors and windows of high-end residences or furniture door panels.

Aluminum alloy:

Features: Aluminum alloy hinges are light and not easy to rust, suitable for light doors and windows.

Applicable scenarios: Such as aluminum alloy doors and windows, light furniture door panels, etc.

Plastic:

Features: Plastic hinges are light and cheap, but their strength and durability are relatively poor.

Applicable scenarios: Usually used in low-cost furniture or equipment.

Damping hinges:

Features: Damping hinges (hydraulic hinges) have a buffering effect, which can make the door smoother and silent when closing. It may contain components of stainless steel or other materials inside.

Applicable scenarios: Suitable for cabinet door connections of wardrobes, bookcases, cabinets and other furniture to improve the user experience and home aesthetics.

In addition, there are some hinges made of special materials, such as glass hinges (mainly used to support heavy glass doors, such as shop windows, display cabinets, etc.) and special-shaped hinges (corner hinges, large door opening angles, widely used).

When choosing door hinges, you should choose the appropriate material according to the use environment and needs. For example, in a humid environment, you should choose corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel or cold-rolled steel; in a dry environment, you can consider low-cost materials such as iron or plastic; and for occasions that require high-end beauty and durability, materials such as copper or aluminum alloy are more suitable.
